For purchases over £5,000, it is essential to take a more rigorous approach to ensure the quality and safety of the purchase, while also minimising potential risks. Utilising a Cambridge Procurement Agreement (CPA) adds a layer of legal and procedural protection, ensuring that all steps comply with best practice and the university’s financial regulations.

Funds provided by grants are often subject to very specific rules, and failure to comply can lead to penalties or loss of funding. Engaging early with the purchasing team is essential for navigating these requirements smoothly and ensuring all aspects of the purchase align with both University financial regulations and external regulations.
